VICTOR – On Friday, February 19th, 2021, the Victor Central School District named longtime teacher and coach, Dan Stone, as the new Head Coach for the Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team. Stone, an 18 year VCS teaching veteran (25 total years in education), brings more than two decades of coaching experience to his new post, including 17 years on the Victor Blue Devils coaching staff as Head Modified Coach, Varsity Assistant and Alumni Coordinator.
VCS Athletic Director (AD), Duane Weimer, said Stone’s extensive experience has more than prepared him for this new leadership role and he is confident that Stone will ensure the program continues to serve as a model of respect, class, and admiration in its pursuit of continued success on and off the field. Coach Stone's paramount focus has been and will continue to be placed on academics, along with developing a growth mindset and all around good citizenship qualities.
"As we continue to manage the uncertainty of life off the field, our players and coaching staff will focus our work on the same goal that has guided our program for years, to get better,” Coach Stone said. Organized team activities already began in January and the program will continue to build at all levels through March and April in preparation to compete every day in practice beginning April 19th.
“We are ready to get better and look forward to performing with the highest levels of athleticism and sportsmanship on the field while demonstrating excellent citizenship and scholastic achievement in the classroom and community," Stone said.
VCS AD Weimer said Coach Stone’s appointment was made possible thanks to the valuable insight of the Victor Athletic Department Boys Lacrosse Committee, comprised of Senior High Administration, Interscholastic Coaches, Student-Athletes, Community Representatives and Lacrosse Alumni.
