VICTOR – On Thursday, July 14th 2022, the Victor Central School District named Ashley Zahn, as the new Head Coach for the Varsity Girls Basketball Team. Zahn brings significant Basketball experience as a Coach and former standout high-school (Canandaigua Academy) and collegiate (Saint Bonaventure University) student-athlete to her new post.
VCS Athletic Director (AD), Duane Weimer, said Zahn's coaching experience, which includes 3-years as the Victor Junior-Varsity Girls Basketball Coach, FLCC Women's Basketball Assistant, Finger Lakes Fury AAU Coach and involvement with Various Camps and Clinics have more than prepared her for the Varsity Level. "Coach Zahn believes in developing her student-athletes to be positive role models in the VCS community by demonstrating great worth-ethic, high character traits, holding oneself accountable, displaying commitment and valuing academics," Weimer said.
"It is an honor to have the opportunity to be the Victor Varsity Girls Basketball Coach," Zahn stated. "I am excited to grow the program and be a positive role model for the players from the youth all the way to varsity. My goal is for the Student-Athletes to leave better players and people than when they entered the program. I want to create an atmosphere that promotes love and commitment to not only the game of basketball, but the program and community. My father, Scott Zahn, shared with me his love for Victor and the basketball program and I can’t thank him enough for pushing me to experience this moment of taking over the program he loves. Thank you to Victor Athletics, staff and administration for the opportunity and making me an even bigger part of the Victor Community," Zahn said.
VCS AD Weimer said Coach Zahn's appointment was made possible thanks to the valuable insight of the Victor Athletic Department Girls Basketball Committee, comprised of Senior High Administration, Interscholastic Coaches, Student-Athletes, and Community Representatives.
