VICTOR – On Thursday, July 14th, 2022, the Victor Central School District named VCS physical education teacher, Gina Potenza, as the new Head Coach for the Varsity Softball Team. Potenza brings more than 10 years of Softball Coaching experience to her new post.
VCS Athletic Director (AD), Duane Weimer, said Potenza's coaching experience and other leadership positions have more than prepared her for the Varsity Level, and he is confident that Potenza will ensure the program will continue and improve upon its rich tradition of success during competition, in the classroom and in life. “Coach Potenza's focus will be on academics, cultivating collegiality and developing a positive team atmosphere for student-athletes, while maintaining a high level of competitiveness,” Weimer said.
"It is an honor to have this opportunity to be the Varsity Head Softball Coach at Victor High School,” Potenza said. “I am looking forward to continuing the great success of this program where collaboration creates an environment where athletes are empowered to achieve goals and celebrate success. The Victor Softball Program is one that I truly believe in, and I am looking forward to continuing the hard work with our amazing coaching staff that always does what's best for kids. Together we will strive!"
VCS AD Weimer said Coach Potenza's appointment was made possible by the valuable insight of the Victor Athletic Department Softball Committee, made up of Senior High Administration, Interscholastic Coaches, Student-Athletes, and Community Representatives.
