On Monday, July 19th, 2021, the Victor Central School District named Alexandra Dayton as the new Head Coach for the Varsity Cheerleading Team. This will be Coach Alex’s 9th year coaching, 8 of which she spent in the Victor Cheer Program. In 2013, she started her coaching career as the Modified Coach, moved onto coaching the Freshman team in 2015 and has spent the past three years being the Varsity assistant coach. As an assistant coach, she has been fortunate to lead and mentor tremendous groups of athletes, form positive relationships with Victor families and have mutual respect and admiration for the Victor administration.
VCS Athletic Director (AD), Duane Weimer, said Dayton's passion, knowledge and experience for Cheerleading has more than prepared her for this new leadership role and he is confident that Dayton will ensure the program continues the tradition of success throughout Monroe County, Section V and New York State. Coach Alex believes in developing her student-athletes as passionate, driven leaders on and off the mat, by placing the highest priority on academics, building positive relationships, respect and all around good citizenship qualities.
“Victor has felt like “home” for me from the moment I started my coaching career. I am honored to be appointed as the Victor Varsity Head Cheerleading Coach. Following in the foot steps of Courtney Tortarella has always been my absolute dream. She has been my mentor from the beginning, and my goal is to continue the success and “empire” she has built throughout her time with us. Our goal at Victor Cheer is to prepare these student athletes for life, on and off the mat. Working with these kids is a privilege that I never take for granted, they are the epitome of student athletes, and I am excited to continue working with them to grow our program. To every past/present/future athlete, parent and coach of Victor Cheer, I hope to make you proud “ Dayton said.
