My name is Coach Levy. I am the coach of the Modified Cross Country Team. I am a science teacher at the Junior High School and also coach Modified Indoor & Outdoor Track.
Cross Country is a sport that requires tremendous dedication, determination and commitment. Preparation this summer will equal success in the fall. To prepare for a successful season, summer running is essential. I have attached two training plans. One is for an athlete who is new to running and the other is for an athlete who has experience in training for running. Choose the one that best fits your background. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
NO cuts in Cross Country - All student/athletes are welcome to participate, however all are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that aligns with the VXC Core Values.
Dismissal from the Team - The actions of each student-athlete must reflect positive character and behavior conducive to creating a culture of team camaraderie. This includes language and content that VXC members post on social media and other online messaging platforms. Violent behavior, insubordination, misuse of equipment, excessive horseplay, and/or disobeying coaches’ instructions can lead to temporary or permanent suspension.
- 1st strike will be a conversation with the coaching staff/ notify parents
- 2nd strike will be a conversation with parents & coaching staff/suspension from 1 meet
- 3rd strike is dismissal from the team
Our first day of practice is Monday 8/26. This is the week before school begins. Normal practice times (including these days) will be M - F from 3 - 4:30. For this first week athletes should be dropped off and picked up near the Varsity Baseball field (see below). Once school begins, this location will be slightly changed and communicated home as we get close.
In addition, we will be offering four optional preseason practices (OTAs) on 8/12, 8/15, 8/19, 8/22 from 9 to 11 by the Varsity baseball field (see below). This is an opportunity to learn more about the sport, meet the coach, and workout with other Modified and Varsity Cross Country athletes.
Runners cannot come to the preseason practices unless an online “Registration” is completed – no exceptions! Use the following link to register.
